I added a schedule to the genetics article, in which you can look up quickly what possible colours your kittens can be. At the bottom of the Sphynx page I added an article about cat coat colours. It summarizes some basic genetic rules, and can help you determine/predict the coat colour of your kittens. Jen from LND cattery had kindly offered to help distribute the calendar in the States. A box will be arriving at her doorstep around the second week of November. More info on how to order a calendar from Jen on the Calendar page. October 2007: new pictures added. Postage for the Netherlands is higher than we first thought, I will be popping in at shows on 23/9 in Sint-Niklaas, 7/10 in Antwerp- Expo, 21/10 in Antwerp Metropolis and 16/12 in Gent. If you want to buy a calendar at one of these shows, please let me know by mail, so I can keep one aside for you. At the Sara show in Rotterdam I finally got to meat a few of the people who shared pictures for the calendar. It was great to be able to talk to you all in person. Thanks again for all your help! Unfortunately I have had to adapt the charges for postage regarding the calendars that need to be sent off within Europe. The envelopes were too big so they go away under the heading "kilopost" now. This means 7,80 Euros instead of 7,70 up to 1 kilo and 15,60 instead of 12,60 up to 2 kilos. International postage has also been changed: from 9,75 to 10,40 Euros for 1 or 2 calendars, and 20,80 instead of 19,50 for 3 or 4 calendars. UK orders and payments for the calendar will run through Laura Smith. More info on the calendar page. Frimel was tested negative for HCM on 30th July 2007. Some more exciting news: we are selling a Sphynx calendar and will be donating all profits to HCM research. More info here. July 2007: On the cattery page you can find more info on our first own stud Binck! At the beginning of August you will find some important and exciting news on this website and many others. So check back then! Layla went for her first HCM scan on 26th June 2007 and was negative! She was also tested negative for FIV and Felv, had her shots updated and was dewormed. We will know her blood type soon... At the show we received Frimel's pedigree, which is now added to the "Cattery" page. Her name was too long to fit on the document so it was changed from Nubee 40 to UB 40. Too bad for the intended pun... April 2007: Yesterday, at the SARA show, we met some wonderful people again. It was a very hot day but there were lots of people anyway. The cats behaved well, and Layla got her first CAC. Frimel got an "Excellent". She would have scored better because of her many good qualities, but because she is too hairy for a Sphynx, the jury could not give her a higher score. Because she is an F2, second generation outcross, and her mother is fully furred, it is not unusual for her to have too much hair, so all in all both our Sphynxes had good reports. More news in March: Layla had already been in heat a few times, and now Frimel joins the show. It seems to be catching. So: hormones? Check! March 2007: I have received confirmation of our entry for the NKU/SARA show in Bergen-op-Zoom on 15th April. Both queens will go to the show. For Layla this is the second show, and she will compete in the Championship Class. Frimel will be experiencing her first show, and is registered for the Kitten Class for females between 6 and 10 months of age. February 2007: I added a list of toxic substances (food included!) on the "Sphynx" page, in Dutch as well as English. Amazing to read what can be toxic to a cats' body! I have added some recent pictures, in all three different maps on the "cattery" page as well as in the slideshow under the banner at the top of each page. I will try to do this on a monthly base at least. January 2007: An article about mutations was translated to Dutch by me. You can find it on the "Academy" page on the PawPeds website. A link to this site can be found on my "Links" page. It wasn't easy with all the medical jargon, but fun to do anyway. It interested me, of course, since the Sphynx is a natural mutation. Layla went to her first show at the age of six months, which was in Brugge (the Sphynx Special of BRKV, a Belgian cat association) on 15th October 2006. She got an EX 1 on her report, which means “excellent 1” and is the highest qualification she could reach in her class. What’s more important: she wasn’t stressed out, stayed calm at the veterinary examination and on the inspector’s table, and she was very interested in the cats in the cage next to her. Good girl.
