Update on March 3rd, 2010: A large sum has already been donated to the foundation (see letter below) and more will follow when all the proceeds from America have been gathered. A part of the already donated money (60 Euros) comes from a different project than the calendar: the HCM lose-weight-race ;) A couple of ladies on a forum
who wanted to lose weight found some sponsors who donated 2 Euros for every kilo lost. The ladies themselves put in 2 Euros for every kilo gained...
Just like before all proceeds will be donated to the Winn Feline Foundation. They support HCM research
in different cat breeds, and also a specific research in Sphynxes. As soon as a DNA test can be developed, breeders and owners will not have to
have their cats scanned annually. One single test in a life time will be sufficient then. And there will be more knowledge about the breeding stock
and their offspring. But before that day arrives, a lot of work has to be done. Blood samples of positively scanned animals are also very welcome,

A new research project has just been launched at l'ENVA (Ecole Vétérinaire Nationale d'Alfort in Paris) together with Antagène, a major European laboratory specialised in
dna-testing. Marie Abitbol who is the leading person from ENVA in this study is a brilliant researcher and lecturer who has been a member of various teams successful in locating responsible genes and developing dna tests for several genetic diseases in dogs and cats.
Simultanious to the Sphynx HCM project a project mapping various breeds genetically has also been launched, and this could be the base of multiple specific projects at a later point in time.
Please distribute this information to cat people all over the world. The more blood samples or buccal swabs they get, the better result WE get, it's SIMPLE !!
